Helping Justice-Involved Reenter Employment (HIRE)

In 2022, Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO), the Anti-Recidivism Coalition and Reentry Association Providers of California (REPAC), succesfully advocated the California legislature to establish a first of it’s kind, robust reentry services program for justice-impacted Californians.

It’s culmination: the Helping Justice-Involved Reenter Employment Grant, known simply as HIRE. An evidence-based, direct support and needs-based payment program designed to enable training, reskilling and upskilling, and supportive services so that justice-involved Californians can access better job opportunities and future career mobility.

Through evidence-based programs like HIRE, justice-impacted Californians are able to find and maintain jobs that nourish and enrich our communities.

I am a cook at Flower Child which is very popular here in Santa Monica. I see people every day that enjoyed the food we make. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, a job I look forward to everyday,” - Bella, Los Angeles County
